Del Casher may not be a household name, but his music has undoubtedly shaped many memorable moments. As a key member of the legendary Wrecking Crew, Casher contributed to countless recordings that have defined our musical landscape. He performed on shows like Lawrence Welk, recorded Frank Zappa’s first demo, and even backed Elvis Presley. Known for his innovations, including the Wah-Wah pedal, he significantly influenced electric guitar playing.
In 1976, Casher was tasked with composing the soundtrack for the film Italian Stallion, a rebranding of the 1970 softcore classic featuring Sylvester Stallone’s debut. While Stallone himself labeled the movie as “horrendous,” the Italian Stallion soundtrack emerged as a timeless musical gem. Casher brought together an ensemble of talented musicians, including fellow Wrecking Crew members, to create one of the funkiest and grooviest records of the 70s.
Now, over 40 years later, with support from ORG Music, Del Casher has unearthed his original master tapes to deliver the soundtrack’s first-ever vinyl release. This limited edition Italian Stallion LP is set to make its long-awaited debut, with only 1,000 copies available for Record Store Day 2021.
