In May 2019, TesseracT’s lead vocalist and songwriter, Daniel Tompkins, embarked on his solo journey with the release of his debut album, Castles. Now, he presents Ruins, a powerful reimagining of his earlier work. While it retains the lyrical essence of Castles, Ruins amplifies the musical intensity, delivering a darker and more aggressive sound.
Produced in collaboration with Eddie Head of Haji’s Kitchen, the album features contributions from talented guest artists. Notably, Paul Ortiz of Chimpspanner co-produced the tracks and reworked the music, while the opening song, “Wounded Wings,” showcases guitar work by Plini. The first single, “The Gift,” features the renowned Matt Heafy from Trivium, who recorded his parts both from his home studio and live on Twitch. Tompkins expressed his excitement about this collaboration, stating, “It was an honour to be featured on ‘The Gift’. Having been a long-time fan of Tesseract and Dan, this was a wonderful collaboration to take part in. People are going to be floored with this release.”
