When the iconic garage punk band TV Eye disbanded, its members Daves Twist (drums), Kusworth (guitar), and Paul Adams (guitar) teamed up with Duffy (vocals) and Simon Colley (bass) from the original Duran Duran lineup. This collaboration birthed Obviously Five Believers, which later evolved into The Subterranean Hawks and ultimately became known simply as The Hawks.
Despite their short-lived existence from 1979 until Christmas 1981, The Hawks left an indelible mark on the underground music scene. They were celebrated for their energetic performances and produced a highly collectible single, ‘Words Of Hope.’ Sadly, tensions within the band led to their untimely dissolution.
Fast forward to 2019, Duffy, the custodian of The Hawks’ tape archive, promised to release their recordings in honor of his late friend Kusworth. Now, after 40 years, ten tracks have been remastered by Grammy-winning engineer John Paterno, bringing their sound to life like never before. This collection is a testament to the band’s legacy, showcasing some of the best rock music albums to buy for true fans.
